Oriental Chicken

3 chicken legs, skinless
3 chicken thighs without skin
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 clove garlic -- minced
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 cup slivered almonds -- optional

In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the chicken in the vegetable oil on both sides. Transfer to a slow cooker. Combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water garlic, ginger and almonds (if desired). Pour over the chicken and cook for 4 - 5 hours.
